Even as the wheels clunked into the wheel wells of the 757, and the airplane turned slowly to the south, pointing her nose to Colombia, we knew He had said “Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed; for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” (Joshua: 9) Four hours later the screech of the tires on the concrete told us we had arrived in Medellin, Colombia. We thanked the Captain that with God’s help he had found it one more time and deplaned. At immigration, God wen tto work. Gabrial Corada and I went through with out a hitch; Dave however, not so smooth. It seems that the last time we entered Colombia from Venezuela because of our hurry and Daniel Matheus, “forgot” we bypassed immigration in leaving the country.David’s inspector was a little more careful than mine and finally we were allowed into the country, but told to report to a federal building the next day. At the Customs the “Stuff”we were carrying for friends was also challenged but “the Lord thy God” again went towork and if we promised to not “do it again” the fine was waved! We promised! At the federal building the next day we waited in line, asking lots of questions getting lots of answers, finally we were told since we’d be heading right back to Venezuela it would be OK and the $550.00 dollar fine we were told we needed to pay would be waved! PRAISE THE LORD! “The Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”

Early morning flight to Cucuta, no problems in leaving Colombia, or entering Venezuela, as a matter of fact without us mentioning it the inspector just doubled stamped our passports and we were all legal again! After a 15 hour bus ride through some really twisty bumpy roads we arrived in “El Venado” Venezuela, at 1am. The town was waiting for us, motorcycle escort to the church lunch, excited greetings, then off to bed, a busy day awaited us.

The church at El Venado, had everything very well planned, my worry and lack of faith all for nothing, “be not dismayed”, name tags, programs, speakers, meals – everything under the careful hand of Pastor Hildegar and Roberto Fuentes.Maybe I should “trust the Lord”.

Delegates were there from three countries, the Lord Challenged our hearts, and minds, knowing we must work while it is yet day, for the night is coming, the clouds can be seen on the horizon. Individuals and families dedicated themselves to carry the Gospel to their corners of the world. On the third day of the conference, and the last meeting of the conference with reportedly over 500 in attendance, a new “President” was unanimously chosen.

Our bus was ready and we were sad to leave but rejoicing in the Lord for what He had done.

After a total of 26 hours going and returning, and many guard check posts, within a half mile of the boarder the last check post the guards finally found out our bus was illegal! Off the bus, carry your suitcase the last half mile and welcome to Colombia.

Thank you all for your faithful prayers, God once again showed His great power.“Since Jesus goes with us shouldn’t we go anywhere? He has said “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature”.
